DETAILED INFORMATION ON ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR Ph.D. (POSTGRADUATE) ACADEMIC STUDIES IN THE FIRST ENROLMENT PERIOD (2026/2027) AT UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE – FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Belgrade announces enrolment into the first year of Doctoral academic studies (Ph.D.) for the academic year 2026/2027 in the study programmes: Mechanical Engineering in Serbian and Mechanical Engineering in English.
A total of 50 students will be enrolled in the Doctoral academic studies out of whom 30 will be enrolled in the studies taught in Serbian as students funded from the budget of the Republic of Serbia, 15 as self-financing students, and 5 self-financing students will be enrolled in studies taught in English.

RIGHT TO ENROLMENT IN DOCTORAL ACADEMIC STUDIES - MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The right of enrolment is granted to the persons who have completed studies at a faculty in the field of technical-technological sciences, possess knowledge of the English language and meet one of the following criteria:
- 1. Completed bachelor and master academic studies (or integrated academic studies) with at least 300 ECTS credits, or completed at least four-year studies under regulations valid before the Higher Education Law (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” No. 6/05, 100/07 – authentic interpretation, 97/08, 44/10, 93/12, 89/13, 99/14, 45/15 – authentic interpretation, 68/15 and 87/16), with a minimum average grade of 8.00 in bachelor academic and master's academic studies, or integrated academic studies, or
- 2. Completed bachelor and master academic studies (or integrated academic studies) with at least 300 ECTS with an average grade below 8.00, and have published scientific papers in journals listed by the relevant Ministry prior to ENROLMENT, sufficient to compensate to the equivalent of an average grade of 8.00, in accordance with Article 11 of the Rulebook on Doctoral academic studies at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
- 3. Hold the academic title of Master of Science in technical-technological sciences under regulations valid before the adoption of the Higher Education Law (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” No.76/05, 100/07- authentic interpretation, 97/08, 44/10, 93/12, 89/13, 99/14, 45/15 – authentic interpretation, 68/15 and 87/16).
The persons who completed studies outside the field of technical- technological sciences may also enrol Doctoral academic studies under the same conditions, defined in previous paragraph, provided that they pass three qualification tests in mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. The tests are hold according to the schedule published on the Faculty website. These persons apply and are ranked in the same manner as all other candidates.
For enrolment to the Mechanical Engineering study programme taught in English, candidates must have an upper-intermediate level of English (B2) in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This requirement is proven only by submitting an appropriate language certificate confirming their level of language proficiency or by having completed their previous education in English.
CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING THE RANKING OF CANDIDATES
The ranking of candidates for the enrolment in the first year of Doctoral academic studies is determined based on the overall average grade and the duration of study at previous studies.

When compiling the ranking list, the candidates who are enrolling for the first time in the first level of studies and at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are ranked first, and other candidates are ranked after them.
DEADLINES AND PROCEDURES OF SUBMITTING COMPLAINTS
The Faculty posts the data on the registered candidates, the preliminary ranking list and, after the prescribed period for complaints, the final ranking list.

STUDENT ENROLMENT
The candidate has acquired the right to enrolment if he/she is ranked in the ranking list up to the number of students envisaged for enrolment by the Call.
The candidate can be enrolled in the study programme in the status of the student whose studies are financed from the state budget (a budget student) if he/she is ranked in the ranking list up to the number approved for the enrolment of the candidates whose studies are financed from the state budget.
The candidate can be enrolled in the study programme as the student who pays tuition fee (a self-financing student) if he/she is ranked in the ranking list up to the number approved for the enrolment of the self-financing students.
A Contract which regulates mutual rights and obligations is signed with the students enrolled in Doctoral academic studies (the contract can be obtained at the Faculty Bookstore).

TUITION FEE
Tuition fee for the students who are the citizens of the Republic of Serbia and who pay tuition fee for the Doctoral academic studies – Mechanical Engineering in Serbian is 2,400.00 euros (payable in up to ten instalments).
Tuition fee for the students who are not the citizens of the Republic of Serbia for the Doctoral academic studies – Mechanical Engineering in Serbian is 2,400.00 euros (payable in up to ten instalments).
Tuition fee for the Doctoral academic studies – Mechanical Engineering in English is 10,000.00 euros per academic year (should be paid upon enrolment). All students who will attend studies in English pay the tuition fee.
PRE-REGISTRATION PROCEDURE AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Online pre-registration is MANDATORY FOR ALL CANDIDATES and will be conducted from October 6 to October 16, 2026, by accessing the following link that will be available soon - All instructions are provided on the website.
REGISTRATION of candidates for both study programmes will take place from October 12 to October 16, 2026 from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM at the Student Affairs Office counter. After submitting the application, candidates receive a certified confirmation of the registration.
OTHER PROVISIONS
When applying for the Call, candidates must submit ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS for inspection,the filled-out application (downloaded from the website) and submit UNCERTIFIED photocopies of the documents, as follows:
The diploma and diploma supplement submitted during the application process will be considered acceptable higher education documents if they have been issued by an accredited higher education institution for an accredited study programme.
The candidate who completed the studies according to the regulations that were valid until the date of entry into force of the Law on Higher Education (“Official Gazette of RS”, No. 76/05, 100/07 – authentic interpretation, 97/08, 44/10, 93/12, 89/13, 99/14, 45/15 – authentic interpretation, 68/15 and 87/16), besides the diploma, submits a certificate of passed exams instead of a diploma supplement.
The candidate who has not been issued a diploma must submit a certificate of completion and a certificate of passed exams when enrolling, with the provision that he/she is required to submit to the Faculty, i.e. the University, the diploma and the diploma supplement of the completed previous level of higher education within a year at the latest.
A diploma of the completed first level of higher education at academic studies that a candidate acquired with the recognition of a part of the study programme of the first level vocational studies is considered valid for enrolment in the second and third level of studies only if the scope of the exams recognised from the study programme of vocational studies does not exceed 30% of the total scope of the study programme of academic studies at which the diploma was acquired (72/240 ECTS credits, or 54/180 ECTS credits) in accordance with the Rulebook on the Standards and Procedures for the Accreditation of Study Programmes.
The University, i.e. the Faculty that implements the study programme the candidate is enrolled in is obliged to verify the submitted higher education documents, and, if it is determined that the document was not issued in accordance with the valid regulations, the candidate does not have the right to enrol.
If it is subsequently determined that the document of the completed previous level of studies has deficiencies, a procedure for the annulment of enrolment is conducted, in accordance with the Law.
When applying for the Call, the candidate who obtained foreign higher education document must submit confirmation that the recognition process at the University has been initiated.
Applying for the Call
The candidates who have earned the right to enrolment submit the following:
Candidates who completed their previous level of studies abroad must also submit, upon enrolment, the Rector’s decision on recognition of the foreign higher education document.
The candidate who has acquired the right to enrol and does not enrol within the prescribed timeline, forfeits the right to enrolment and another candidate will be enrolled instead of him/her, according to the determined order.
