Contact: Zrnić Đ. Nenad
Level of studies: M.Sc. (graduate) Academic Studies – Mechanical Engineering
ECTS: 4
Final exam type: seminar works
Department: Department of Material Handling, Constructions and Logistics
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with tools, machines and devices in the field of mechanization used in various branches of the economy, especially in industry, construction, mining, logistics, transport, tourism, energy, process engineering, service activities, etc
By mastering the program of the course, students get acquainted with: 1. Production processes in companies that produce or use equipment for mechanization and material handling, 2. Material Handling and Conveying, 3. Processes of maintenance of equipment and machinery for mechanization and material handling, etc.
Introductory remarks about the mechanization and material handling. Basics of application of safety and health measures at work when using equipment and means for work in general, and especially in the field of mechanization and material handling. Basic principles of operation of devices and machines for mechanization. Fundamentals of technological processes in the industry that produces machines and construction in the field of mechanization. Fundamentals of design of material handling and logistics systems.
Practical classes are realized through visits to industrial complexes and companies in which machines and devices in the field of mechanization are produced or used. Insight is gained into transport flows in which means of internal transport are used, production-technological processes of making parts for mechanization machines, assembly processes, maintenance of mechanization machines, construction characteristics of cranes and other material handling devices, the role of construction machinery on high-rise buildings, the role of conveyors and rotary excavators on surface mines for coal exploitation, storage and distribution systems, etc. Also, there is a presentation of realized projects by the Department for the needs of the economy in the previous 10-year period. The used methods, basic phases in the design process (from the conceptual design to the final product), as well as technical solutions for the reconstruction of existing machinery for mechanization are presented.
