Lectures

Goal

Familiarize with the challenges in designing information systems within companies; Have a detailed understanding of the methodology for designing information systems in companies; Identify the key activities that enable full computerization of all processes; Understand and appreciate the significance of subsystems within an integrated information system.

Outcome

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: Recognize challenges in designing information systems; Understand and discuss the methodology for designing information systems; Participate in team-based projects for designing information systems within a company; Select appropriate hardware and software; Apply and adapt the designed computerized system to real-world conditions; Evaluate proposed solutions.

Theoretical teaching

Introduction to Information Systems Design; CIM/CIB – Computer-Integrated Manufacturing / Computer-Integrated Business as a Goal of Information Systems Design; Structured Systems Analysis (SSA); Object-Oriented Analysis: Development of Conceptual Model, Sequence Diagrams, and Definition of Operation Execution; Object-Oriented Design: Collaboration Diagrams, Complete Class Diagrams, and State Diagrams; System Analysis for Computerized Systems; CASE Tools for System Analysis and Decomposition of Computerized Systems; Methodology for Information Systems Design: Planning and Phases, Goal Definition, Analysis, and Global Design of Information Systems; Selection of Hardware and Software; Detailed Information Systems Design; Implementation of Computerized Systems; Testing; Evaluation of the Designed Solution and Maintenance; Communications in the Factories of the Future: Communication in Complex Enterprises, Electronic and Mobile Business; Project Management: Standard Software Packages for Project Management.
