Lectures

Goal

-to provide students knowledge of the fundamental principles and methods in Dynamics of variable mass systems -to enable students to solve practical problems in engineering using acquired knowledge in Dynamics of variable mass systems -to prepare students to monitoring novelties in science and engineering

Outcome

-to enable students to master terms, methods and principles in Dynamics of variable mass systems -to enable students to relate the knowledge from Dynamics of variable mass systems with knowledge in other scientific fields, to apply knowledge from Dynamics of variable mass systems in analysis, synthesis and prediction of solutions and consequences of problems in science

Theoretical teaching

Differential equation of motion of a particle having variable mass – Meshchersky’s equation. Two Tsiolkovsky’s problems. Motion of a particle having variable mass in a resisting medium. Inverse tasks of a particle having variable mass. Examples. Basic laws of dynamics of a body having variable mass. Differential equations of motion of a body having variable mass in Lagrangian (generalized) coordinates. Canonical form of equations of motion of a body having variable mass. Variational problems of a particle having variable mass.
