Engineering communication fundamentals

Lectures

Goal

• The main goal of this course is to understand the importance and acquire the basics of skills in choosing a software package for report preparation and digital communication. • Introduction to the creation, introduction and use of engineering documentation. Computer processing of documentation. • Introduction to the basic software packages used in everyday engineering / technical practice.

Outcome

The acquired knowledge enables: • that the listener distinguishes between proprietary and free software, • that the listener prepares, creates and displays documents in word processing software. • that the listener draws appropriate diagrams and graphs of functions. • use word processing programs in a graphical and command environment. • that the student prepares basic documentation for computer processing.

Theoretical teaching

Software overview, licenses, proprietary and free software. Review and comparison of word processing software. Graphic environments. Installing the necessary software. Work in a graphical environment. Working with packages in the command line. Word processing, LaTeX. Graphic formats, vector graphics and raster graphics. Drawing and making function diagrams. Drawing diagrams of algorithms and pseudocodes. Creating presentations in the LaTeX package.

Practical teaching

Practical exercises consist of learning about the creation of technical documentation and documents for communication. It is also used appropriate software. Development of two projects CV and presentation of a problem with topic on information technology аre the essence of practical training
